Summary

Marissa Curry was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in the small town of Shenandoah, Iowa. She received her BA in Art Therapy from Converse University in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 2022. Her mediums of choice: watercolor, gouache, and ink are most often used to create portraits that highlight the wonder of youth or cherished memories of loved ones.

Curry received the Visual Arts Scholarship from Converse College 2018-22 as well as the Chapman Study Travel Scholarship to Greece in 2019 for the travel watercolor sketch course. She was elected the President of the Converse Art Society for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. She has led the creation of many on and off campus events such as: the Tulip Tree Project, Open Sketch Events, Winter Holiday Card Contest, the Montgomery Mural Competition, the Art Prompt Series at Converse. Curry organized the 2020, 2021, 2022 Fall and Spring Art Sales as well as the 2021 and 2022 Juried Art Exhibitions. Curry’s work has been accepted into the Juried Art Exhibition at Converse in 2019, 2021, and 2022. 

Curry currently works at Charlotte Montessori School full time while pursuing her art part-time. Her studio is located at Arts on the Greenway, Mt. Holly. She does commissions as well as work for gallery/shop sale.
